KATHMANDU, July 18: Mahakulung Rural Municipality, Solukhumbu will be conducting maintenance work at Mahakunung Lake. According to the Chief of the municipality, the lake is to be maintained to increase the staying period of the internal as well as foreign tourists.

Currently, 47 KW of electricity is produced from the lake which is used in 450 houses in Cheskam. Likewise, the lake will also play a great role in promoting Mera peak, Silichho, Pachpokhari, Kenpa and Namche trekking route which is also believed to have been walked on by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa while climbing Mt. Everest 848m..

Likewise, Parliamentarian of Solukhumbu district, Uttam Kumar Basnet has assured the villagers to provide economic help of 200,000 rupees in this year and 2 million rupees in coming fiscal year. The villagers and other people have decided to complete the maintenance work as soon as possible.
